Punch Your Rut in the Gut


What’s life like for you right now, this very second? Are you stuck in a rut? Are you getting the most out of life?

Stop! Right now! There’s no better time to ask yourself: Why am I stuck?

What’s the mindfulness trend worth if we don’t pay some mind to our situation at regular intervals?

At least once a week, stop and take stock of YOU. Really dig deep and think about what thoughts, beliefs, or actions are holding you back.

Take time to assess your situation and start asking some serious questions:

What are some habits I need to change? 

Am I too complacent? Could I be pushing myself to break out of a comfort zone that’s keeping me stagnant?

 Who do I want to be? 

If I don’t take action on something, will I end up having regrets?

Are You Served or Enslaved?

Ultimately, it often boils down to one big question:

Am I focusing on thoughts, beliefs, and actions that serve or enslave me? (TWEET THIS)

Is anything you’re thinking, believing, or doing building you up or breaking you down?

Once you do this self-analysis, MOVE. Jump out of the rut. Change the routine.

Make the most of the time you’ve been given on this planet. Love and let yourself be loved (even if you have to get pick up artist training to do so). Forgive and let yourself be forgiven.

What about your dreams? What have you always wanted to do? The childhood ambitions that may have seemed (or been seen by others as) unrealistic. That might have just been limiting beliefs.

Fears and Thought Experiments

What are your fears? If anxiety and doubt are holding you back, here’s a quick thought experiment you can conduct:

Think to yourself: What is the worst that could happen if you pursue your dreams? When you let yourself think through the possibilities, you’ll often discover that your fears can be put into a much healthier perspective.

The Good Fight

When you’re down, don’t surrender right away. Fight back! Do something, anything! Go to the gym, commit a random act of kindness, learn new skills, interact with supportive people.

Is your current career unfulfilling? Fight the fear of the unknown. Measure the gap between your current job and the job of your dreams. How big is that gap? If it feels like a yawning abyss, perhaps it’s time to spread your wings and move on.

A good way to get a healthy perspective on your own life is to help someone else with theirs. Volunteer, give back to the world. It may be your loved ones or friends, or strangers. There are people who need your help out there.

What’s Your Possible?

Don’t ask the world what’s possible. The world, unfortunately, will very often reply in the negative. Instead, ask yourself what’s possible.

It might seem hard sometimes to break your patterns, but you always have the power to change your life. It doesn’t have to be about going full steam ahead all the time. It’s about taking steps, even if they’re baby steps, towards the life you want.
